The rise of Florida State basketball continues.

Following a 2-0 start to ACC play, the Seminoles climbed eight spots to No. 12 in the AP Poll, which was released Monday. It’s the highest Florida State has been ranked in men’s basketball in any poll since finishing 10th in the AP Poll at the end of the 2011-12 campaign.

After using a late run to run away from Wake Forest in an 88-72 victory on Wednesday, FSU made some serious noise on Saturday by knocking off then No. 12 Virginia in Charlottesville. Dwayne Bacon’s 3-pointer with two seconds left served as the game-winner as the Seminoles prevailed, 60-58.

In the USA Today Coaches Poll, FSU jumped seven spots from 20th to 13th. The Seminoles are among seven ranked ACC teams — the most of any conference.

For the season, FSU is 14-1 overall. The Seminoles will look to improve to 3-0 in ACC play for the first time ever on Saturday as they host Virginia Tech. The Hokies made their first appearance in the poll this week at No. 21.
