It’s the day of the Capital One Orange Bowl, Florida State fans. Before the big game however, get the latest on FSU athletics in the news and notes section. For those of you at work, happy Friday.

In a match-up of top-15 women’s basketball teams, No. 7 Florida State pulled away from 11th-ranked Miami in Coral Gables, 81-66. The victory was the 12th in a row for FSU, which ties a school-record.
FSU led 32-31 at the break, but seized control in the third quarter by outscoring the Hurricanes 28-14 in the period. The Seminoles would lead by as many as 22 in the final quarter before cruising to victory.
Leticia Romero and Imani Wright each scored 19 points to lead Florida State and combined to shoot 7-for-13 from deep while Shakayla Thomas and Chatrice White both recorded double-doubles. Thomas finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. White added 13 and 10. Brittany Brown also chipped in with 10 points. Jessica Thomas paced the Hurricanes with 20 points and Adrienne Motley added 18.
With the victory, FSU improves to 13-1 and has now won its ACC opener for the first time in three years. The Seminoles will be back in action on Monday as it hosts N.C. State.

The ACC opener for FSU women’s hoops was the only athletic event on the schedule.
On the Agenda
No. 11 FSU will take on sixth-ranked Michigan in Miami for the Capital One Bowl. The contest kicks off at 8 p.m. EST and will air on ESPN.
News and Notes
FSU defensive end commit Joshua Kaindoh was named Alpha Dog at the Under Armour All-American practices for the second day in a row.
FSU linebacker Matthew Thomas and defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi have each said they will return for a senior season. Tackle Roderick Johnson has not made a decision yet nor has running back Dalvin Cook.
Florida State scored a touchdown with under a minute to go in the Capital One Orange Bowl to beat Michigan, 33-32.
