Florida State is off to a 12-1 start as it is less than a week away from the start of ACC play. The Seminoles are ranked 21st in the country and hoping to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five years.

Most bracketologists believe that if the NCAA Tournament started now, FSU would not only be in the NCAA Tournament, but would be a higher seed.

The latest bracket from ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, which was released Thursday, has the Seminoles as a No. 6 seed. Lunardi believes the Seminoles would be headed to Salt Lake City in the South region against Middle Tennessee State, the 11th seed. Middle Tennessee State was a No. 15 seed last season and upset second-seeded Michigan State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

In brackets released Monday by CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm and Lukas Harkins of FanSided, each had Florida State sitting as a No. 5 seed.

Palm has the Seminoles facing 12th-seeded Arkansas State in the West Region in Sacramento. Harkins projects that FSU will face 12th-seeded Valparaiso, but doesn’t give a region or location. Valparaiso defeated FSU in the second round of last season’s NIT and in the second round of the 1998 NCAA Tournament.

The Seminoles will open ACC play on Wednesday by hosting Wake Forest. Palm has the Demon Deacons projected as one of the final four teams in. Lunardi has them as one of the next four out. Harkins did not have Wake listed in either his bracket or the first four out.
