It’s Thursday, Florida State fans. We hope your week is going well. We’ll do our best to keep you up to date on the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

With the regular season complete, publications have started putting out All-American and All-ACC teams. So far, Florida State has been well represented.

On Wednesday, both Sporting News and SB Nation released their All-American teams and both running back Dalvin Cook and defensive end DeMarcus Walker made the list. For the season, Cook has 1,620 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns while Walker leads the nation in sacks with 15. Sporting News named FSU tackle Roderick Johnson a second-team All-American.

Cook, Walker and cornerback Tarvarus McFadden all made ESPN’s All-ACC team which was released Tuesday. McFadden leads the nation with eight interceptions. The Associated Press released its All-ACC team on Wednesday. Making the list of first-teamers for the Seminoles was Cook, Walker, Johnson and McFadden. Guard Kareem Are was a second-team selection.

FSU quarterback Deondre Francois shared Newcomer of the Year in the ACC honors with Virginia Tech quarterback Jerod Evans. Walker was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the ACC by AP.

The FSU men’s tennis team continued to host the Tallahassee Futures Tournament.

On the Agenda

The FSU men’s tennis team continues to host the Tallahassee Futures Tournament. The FSU men and women’s basketball team will both host games. The women will take on rival Florida at 6 p.m. EST in a contest that will air on ACC Network Extra. The men then face Nicholls at 9 p.m. EST in a game that can be seen on ESPNU.

News and Notes

FSU tight ends coach Tim Brewster was in Texas visiting a pair of 5-star prospects on Wednesday in offensive lineman Walker Little and defensive tackle Marvin Wilson.

FSU running back Dalvin Cook and defensive end DeMarcus Walker were each named first-team All-Americans by USA Today.

Daniel Wright, a 4-star safety from Fort Lauderdale and the No. 121 prospect for 2017 flipped from FSU to Alabama on Thursday.

FSU defensive end DeMarcus Walker was named ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Year by the ACC Coaches and quarterback Deondre Francois was named ACC Rookie of the Year by the coaches. In total, eight FSU players were recognized.

FSU’s 2017 softball schedule was unveiled on Thursday, with four opponents who finished in the top 10 last season.

Seven FSU players scored in double-figures as the FSU men’s basketball team beat Nicholls on Thursday night, 118-63.
