FSU Recruiting: Noles in the Mix for Kaindoh, Akers, Wilson?

A huge development occurred last week as Joshua Kaindoh decommitted from the University of Maryland. Florida State had been working very hard to get back into this recruitment and it appears its efforts have been effective.

FSU is presumed to be in the driver’s seat with Penn State also being a threat to receive his commitment. Alabama is an under the radar team to watch. When Kaindoh, a 5-star defensive end from IMG Academy in Bradenton committed to Maryland, it was believed that his parents wanted him close to home.

His parents appear to be more open to him leaving home now which has opened the door for schools like FSU and Alabama. He is scheduled to commit at the Under Armour game on Jan. 1.

Cam Akers finished a fantastic prep career with FSU assistants Tim Brewster and Jay Graham on the sideline to watch the show. Akers, a 5-star running back for Clinton (MS) High School, scored seven touchdowns and led his team to a state championship. It is shaping up to be an FSU and LSU battle. With that said, it’s hard to rule out teams like Ole Miss and Ohio State also.

Akers has kept his recruitment close to the vest, but rumblings suggest that FSU will have a very good chance at landing him.

Marvin Wilson, a 5-star defensive tackle from Texas, is in an interesting situation now with new developments in Austin. Head coach Charlie Strong was fired last month and Tom Herman is taking over the Longhorns job. Does that have a positive effect on the Longhorns chances to land the top player in their state?

That was expected to be the case. The four 5-star recruits from Texas however, are still all trending away from Texas with linebacker Baron Browning committing to Ohio State and cornerback Jeffery Okudah expected to join. Okudah has FSU in his final 3 along with Ohio State and Oklahoma, but when all is said and done, expect him to be a Buckeye.

FSU still has a great chance to land Wilson, but he is the only Texas 5-star legitimately considering coming to Tallahassee.

It seems as though FSU has cooled on defensive ends Owen Carney and Jordan Wright – both 3-star prospects. This could mean that FSU is confident with other bigger name defensive ends. That could possibly include Kaindoh and Jarez Parks, a 4-star prospect from Sebastian.

Expect FSU to flip 3-star tight end Tre McKitty, an IMG Academy prospect committed to Oregon, within the next couple of weeks. The only commits FSU should be remotely concerned about losing is Daniel Wright and James Blackman.

Alabama has been trending for Wright, a 4-star safety from South Florida who committed in June. Louisville and Florida are two schools that have caught the eye of Blackman, a 3-star quarterback from Belle Glade. Of those two, only Louisville has offered Blackman a scholarship. That’s something to possibly keep an eye on.

Donovan Peoples-Jones, the nation’s No. 1 receiver from Detroit, was on his official visit to FSU this weekend. Don’t expect anything to come from that visit. The 5-star prospect in all likelihood will sign with Michigan.

The name to watch for FSU at wide receiver is Tamorrion Terry. He is a slim 6-3 or 6-4 wide receiver with game-breaking ability. He is currently ranked a 3-star because at the moment, he does not have the test scores to sign. As for FSU and 2017, the Seminoles currently have the 10th ranked overall class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and the No. 2 class in the ACC.
