It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. The next few days aren’t real exciting, but we’ll keep you up to date. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Without starting guard Leticia Romero, Florida State put Connecticut’s 76-game winning streak to the test at the Donald L. Tucker Center on Tuesday night in a 78-76 loss. FSU led 34-30 at the half and never went away with two chances to go ahead late.

With the Huskies clinging to a 77-74 lead, FSU guard Brittany Brown was fouled shooting a 3-pointer. Brown made the first two free throws, but missed the third. The ball however, went out of bounds off Connecticut and the Seminoles had the chance to take the lead.

Shakayla Thomas’ shot however was blocked. The Huskies split free throws on the other end and held on as Imani Wright’s winning 3-point attempt fell short. Wright led the Seminoles with 25 points while Brown added 16 and Thomas 14. Napheesa Collier for UCONN led all scorers with 28 points.

The 2-point win on Tuesday night was the closest for the 4-time national champions since 2011. The Seminoles will be in action again on Thursday against Jacksonville.

Between the Lines

Aside from the thriller between FSU and UCONN, there were no other Florida State athletic events.
