The Daily Nole — Nov. 13, 2016: FSU Soccer to Face Utah on Friday

The weekend is winding down, Florida State fans, but from an FSU athletic standpoint, it should be a pretty stress-free Sunday. The news and notes section of this post will be updated.

Lead Story

Florida State easily defeated Samford to open the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament 4-0, but now the Seminoles know who they’ll be playing in the round of 32.

The answer is Utah. The Lady Utes defeated Texas Tech 1-0 on Saturday behind a goal from Katie Rogers in the 97th minute.

The Seminoles will play Utah on Friday at 2 p.m. EST in Los Angeles. The teams had no common opponents during the regular season.

Between the Lines

Aside from FSU’s NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament victory, FSU’s men’s basketball team opened the year with an 88-67 home win over Charleston Southern.

On the Agenda

FSU softball will play an intrasquad scrimmage before hosting Georgia in an exhibition. FSU volleyball will visit Syracuse.

News and Notes

Florida State will take on Syracuse at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday. The game will air on ABC or ESPN2.

Florida State climbed three spots in the Amway Coaches Poll to No. 15. FSU also moved up three spots in the AP Poll to No. 17.
