Staff Predictions for FSU-Boston College

Florida State knows that finishing the regular season strong with nine wins is the only way to maintain some sort of pride and optimism for what has been a disappointing 2016. With three losses and closer-than-desired wins over Wake Forest and N.C. State, many are wondering if the team has it in them to win the final three contests against Boston College, Syracuse, and rival Florida. These fears will be put to the test on Friday night in a special Veteran’s Day contest against the Eagles.

Boston College meanwhile stumbles along in an attempt to muster any sort of offense. Head coach Steve Addazio is in his fourth year with the Eagles and has not won more than seven games in a single season. In fact, the four wins in this season so far might be even more deceptive since they have come against Massachusetts, Wagner, Buffalo, and N.C. State. This is a program that has struggled to keep its head above water, and if it comes out demoralized after its 45-point loss to Louisville, Florida State might deliver a fatal blow to Addazio’s future.

It is an exciting time in America, but despite all the hectic events, we here at The Daily Nole continue to bring fresh content and analysis towards our readers. Editor Mike Ferguson kept fans up to date with news surrounding the program, including the first look at Boston College, statistical rankings, and poll movement. Meanwhile, staff writer Clint Eiland provided analysis on the emergence of Nyqwan Murray, and pointed out how defensive end DeMarcus Walker is chasing FSU history.

Now it is time for predictions. The cast of Mike, Clint, digital content manager Edwin Collins, recruiting analyst Jay Brading and contributors T.J. Pittinger and Robert Blackburn give their takes:

Clint: 31-10, FSU. I’m oddly confident in this game after reviewing the match-ups and the overall strengths of the teams. This is an Eagles team that might win two games without the incredibly blatant cupcake teams to beef up their record. The Seminoles have such a talent advantage across the board that I don’t see this one causing any fast heart rates or blood pressure spikes. Boston College will score a late touchdown to make it look closer than it actually was.

Mike: The only way Florida State loses this one is if it beats itself. Boston College has again been dreadful on offense and defensively, the Seminoles have gotten better the second half of the season. The FSU offense won’t set the world on fire, but it will be able to make enough plays to win this one going away. Seminoles roll, 27-7.

Edwin: FSU running back Dalvin Cook puts aside a sub-par performance against N.C. State and his struggles against Boston College to break Warrick Dunn’s career rushing mark. FSU wins big, 45-16.

Jay: I have it 38-3, FSU. BC’s defense has been vulnerable this season against quality competition and FSU’s defense should stymie that unit Boston College calls an offense.

T.J.: FSU doesn’t lose games at Doak Campbell Stadium when I’m in attendance. Period. No wedding this week, so FSU rolls 34-13.

Robert: 28-17, FSU. Florida State will do something crazy and score in the the first quarter. Cook will rush for 150-plus yards against a good defense, allowing FSU to coast to a nice Friday night win.
