The Daily Nole — Nov. 8, 2016: Wilson Done for the Season

Lead Story

Senior wide receiver Jesus Wilson’s productive Florida State career is over. During his Monday afternoon press conference, head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed that Wilson had undergone season-ending foot surgery.

Wilson had led the Seminoles with 29 catches for 388 yards receiving heading into the Oct. 15 contest against Wake Forest. That’s when Wilson suffered the foot injury.

Wilson finishes his FSU career with 133 catches for 1,562 yards and eight touchdown catches. Wilson also returned a punt 89 yards for a touchdown earlier this season in a 52-8 win over Charleston Southern. Nyqwan Murray, a sophomore, has filled in admirably in Wilson’s absence with 15 catches for 249 yards and a touchdown over the last two games.

News and Notes

FSU safety Trey Marshall is still fighting through concussion symptoms. His status for Friday night is unknown.

Doctors are not yet ready to clear sophomore safety Derwin James. James, FSU’s returning leading tackler, has not played since suffering a meniscus tear in the home opener against Charleston Southern.

FSU was ranked 18th in the College Football Playoff rankings, which were released Tuesday night.
