The Daily Nole — Nov. 3, 2016: Dickerson to Miss Time

Mitch White/FSU athletics

We’re only two days away from Florida State taking on N.C. State, but the next couple days are big ones for FSU athletics overall. The news and notes section of this post will be updated.

Lead Story

Another blow was struck to Florida State on Wednesday as freshman guard Landon Dickerson was reported to have suffered a knee injury and will miss an extended period of time.

Dickerson took over at right guard early in the season for returning starter Wilson Bell and with his insertion into the lineup, things have seemed to improve. With Dickerson out, Bell will likely resume his starting spot at right guard.

Bell, a redshirt junior, started in every game for the Seminoles last season, so there shouldn’t be a huge drop-off. FSU will take on N.C. State at 7 p.m. EST on Saturday.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Wednesday.

On the Agenda

Qualifying members of the FSU men’s tennis team will be in Flushing, New York for the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships. The FSU men’s basketball team will take on Valdosta State in an exhibition.

News and Notes

FSU is on pace to allow the most sacks during the Jimbo Fisher era.

Florida State’s Kirsten Crowley was named to the ACC’s first team for soccer. Deyna Castellanos, Megan Connolly, Natalia Kuikka and Cassie Miller were all named second-team All-ACC and Emma Koivisto made the third team. Castellanos, Kristen McFarland and Malia Berkely made the conference’s All-Freshman team.

FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher said Derrick Kelly will start at right guard in place of the injured Dickerson.
