Most Florida State baseball fans were aware that Taylor Walls and Cole Sands made appearances for Team USA's Collegiate squad and those two certainly headlined the summer action.

In 19 games for Team USA, Walls hit .205 with three doubles and four RBIs. Walls was stellar as the table-setter for the Seminoles last season as the shortstop earned first-team All American honors from Baseball America.

Cole Sands, a rising soon-to-be sophomore pitcher, was an alternate for Team USA and picked up the win in his only appearance. In a victory over Chinese Taipei in July, Sands worked 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. In the Cape Cod League with the Falmouth Commodores, Sands was 2-0.

Though the matter is all but settled now with Sean Maguire's injury, the hottest topic of discussion this offseason regarding Florida State was the quarterback position.

It's the most scrutinized position in all of sports and for the Seminoles in 2016, it will fall into the hands of redshirt freshman Deondre Francois -- a prospect that FSU fans seem to be happy about. The consensus last year was that play from under center was sub-par or inconsistent. There are good reasons behind those sentiments, but how drastic of an improvement does FSU need to be a contender in 2016?

As a team, the Seminoles finished with a passer rating of 142.7, good for 35th in the country. That was only one spot behind national champion Alabama and better than the likes of Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan State and Miami. Three of those teams made New Year's ...

Florida State's Jimbo Fisher is currently one of five active coaches that have won an FBS national championship. In six years of being a head coach, he has compiled an overall record of 68-14 (.829 win percentage) with three conference championships.

He's been to four different New Year's Six bowls, coached 10 different consensus All-Americans, and rebuilt FSU as a major recruiting power. One could write more than a few paragraphs about his successes while in Tallahassee, but the point would remain the same.

Yet for whatever reason, Fisher occupies a liminal space when talking about the best head coaches in the nation.

Various writers have attempted to rank these aforementioned coaches, with varying results. The obvious ...

From the time now-redshirt junior linebacker Matthew Thomas committed to Florida State, nothing has seemed to go smoothly.

Once a 5-star recruit out of South Florida, Thomas has played in just 12 games and recorded only 30 tackles in his first three years at FSU. Thomas originally wanted out of his commitment after signing with the Seminoles and since then, has struggled to stay on the field.

As a true freshman in 2013, Thomas appeared in four games for FSU before being sidelined for the final 10 games with a neck injury while his team went on to finish 14-0 and win the national championship. It has been alleged that as the Seminoles were preparing to take on Auburn for the BCS National Championship, Thomas ...
