Your Thoughts Thursday: FSU Will Beat Alabama State by at Least 5 TDs

Florida State is expected to become bowl-eligible on Saturday as the Seminoles host Alabama State for Senior Day.

The Seminoles are coming off a thrilling 38-31 victory over Boston College last weekend in Chestnut Hill to improve to 5-5 and get their first road win of the season. This week, we asked our social media followers who would win Saturday’s contest between FSU and the FCS Hornets.

Of the 185 accounts that responded, 44 percent had the Seminoles winning by at least 35 points while 30 percent picked FSU to win by between 21 and 34 points. 23 percent foresee the FSU victory being closer than three touchdowns. Just 3 percent have Alabama State doing the unthinkable.

Our Take
As usual, we will go with those who responded.

To Alabama State’s credit, it did hang tough with a UAB team that is currently 6-3 in its opener. The Hornets lost 24-19, but have three losses against FCS competition, including a 42-7 loss to Kennesaw State and a 35-7 home loss to Alcorn State.

FSU has not had a season to remember, but the athletes on the field for the Seminoles will be far superior to anything seen by Alabama State this season. The Hornets’ strength is their defense, but the FSU offense and Kendal Briles’ uptempo attack will be hard to slow down. The second half of last weekend’s contest at Boston College was arguably the best the Seminoles had looked on offense all season long.

Alabama State gave up 231 yards on the ground in its loss to Alcorn State and 481 rushing yards in the loss to current FCS No. 15 Kennesaw State. Neither of those teams had Cam Akers.

Our prediction? FSU 52, Alabama State 10.
